University of Baltimore law school dean Closius resigns
Phillip J. Closius has resigned, effective straight away, as dean of the Varsity of Baltimore School of Law.following what he describes as skyrocketing “tensions” between himself and the school’s administration over funding for the law school. In a mail Fri. , Closius told members of the law school that Varsity of Baltimore President Robert Bogomolny asked for his resignation at a four p.m. Meeting on Thursday.
UB claimed it will start a countrywide search for a replacement and interim dean will be named will be named immediately the imminent educational year. Closius, in his 4th year as dean, wrote their were difference between him and varsity officers re money information and the way in which the info was being shared and distributed. He further said the school has raised its in-state tutoring more than seventy % and out-of-state teaching by forty eight % during the past 7 years and the college was diverting “millions of greenbacks in law school income to non-law varsity functions.” “University officers also said that providing funding for the ongoing improvement of the School of Law wasn’t a high concern for the university,” Closius wrote.
A “turning point” Closius announced was when the school set a $10 million ticket for the naming rights of the school of law, separate from the already named John and Frances Angelos Law Center. Closius asserted he thought the price ticket was too low, but worked with local solicitor Stephen L. Snyder on agreeing to make the present.
Closius claims Bogomolny and the system “decided to reject the gift” and up the price ticket to $20 million, at which time Snyder dropped.
